Who is this course for?

This course is the best course for those who have extensive experience operating a traffic control truck. You must be able to read and understand English to undertake this course. This course is suitable for both those who are working and those who are not currently working.

 

What is involved?

The Advanced Course will require you to attend 1 day of fun and exciting training session (TD1) that includes both theory and practical training, followed by a half day assessment Day (AD). Attending and completing the training day will ensure that you will be able to take the required assessment with ease!

Participants are required to prepare for the course by reading the pre course material (may be picked up or sent by post to you) and answering some simple questions to prepare you for the course.

 

Where is the course held?

The courses run regularly in our training centre in Greenacre. However you may also complete part or the entire course at your workplace subject to some workplace conditions being met.

 

What is covered?

During this course you will gain (or refresh) the knowledge and Skills required to safely and effectively operate a traffic control truck including;

  • How to determine the weight of a load

  • Legal requirements for the safe operation of traffic control trucks

  • Traffic Control characteristics and capabilities (includes knowledge of load data plates and routine checking )

  • Workplace standards, requirements, policies and procedures for working on a traffic control

  • Safe operating techniques including hazard identification and risk control

  • Conducting checks and typical problems encountered

  • Adjustments that may be made for correction where required

  • Accurately interpret information relating to conducting traffic control truck operations

  • Operate a traffic control truck safely (including all functions) to the maximum height and load capacity

  • Use effective communication skills at a sufficient level to communicate with other site personnel (e.g. receiving instructions, interpreting instructions, safety information and procedures)

During this course you will gain (or refresh) the knowledge and Skills required to safely and effectively operate a traffic control truck. Once you have successfully completed the course and the required assessment then you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit:

TLILIC108A Licence to operate a traffic control truck

As well as an interim licence to operate a traffic control. This will allow you to get your photo licence from your local Post Office.

 

How long is the course?

There are a number of options available to ensure that we meet your training needs.

The Advanced Course consists of one Training Day (TD1) and a ½ day Assessment (AD) making a total of 1 ½ days attendance. This is the preferred option if you are not currently working.

 

Options for flexibility

Alternatively the Training Day (TD1) can be substituted by 2 evening sessions. (Tuesday and Wednesday - 5pm - 8.30pm)

Weekend courses are also held to meet the needs of those who cannot take time off work. This consists of attending a Saturdays session followed by an assessment on the following Saturday (or any other available Assessment Day).

Whether you are working or not, If you require additional one on one time with the trainer to increase your confidence then this can be arranged (fees apply). The course is designed to help you succeed without additional training.

 

How much does it cost?

The cost for the Advanced course is $280. An additional $65 is payable at the post office for processing your licence.

Booking, Enrolment Information for Advanced Traffic Control Course

  • Payment of the $100 Booking Fee must at least 7 days prior to attendance, the remainder is payable on the day (on day 1 before starting). If you intend on attending an upcoming course that starts in less than 7 days please contact us.

  • You may also pay the full amount (refunds do apply to amounts paid over the $100 Booking Fee).

  • If a booking is cancelled by you with at least 7 days notice we will refund any fees paid (the booking fee or the balance) and retain $50 for recovering our cost of preparation and materials.

  • You shoudl collect or have pre course preparation materials delivered at least 7 days before course; (The 7 days is only a recommendation to ensure you have enough time to review the pre course information and prepare for the course, however it is not a mandatory item).

  • Advanced Courses are available and commence Monday, Wednesday and alternated Saturday's. Other days may be available.

  • Advanced Course is run over 1 ½ days consisting of 1 training days (TD1) and an Assessment Day (AD)

  • All Advanced Courses have a theory, practical and final assessment component.

  • On the first day participants must arrive 15 minutes prior to the advertised/informed starting time.

  • In the event you are running 10 minutes or more late on the first day and are not allowed to enter there will be no refund and a 50% rescheduling fee applies.

  • Apart from this, there are no refunds except in genuine emergencies such as illness. In these cases, we may ask to see evidence such as a medical certificate before granting a refund. (Please note, that you will lose your $100 booking fee but non rescheduling fee applies)

  • If you are more than 10 minutes late, do not have the correct ID, or do not wear the correct clothing as required, you will not be admitted. A rescheduling fee of 50% of the course fee applies.

  • If you fail your assessment on Assessment Day (AD) and wish to sit another (AD) you will be required to wait at least 48 days from your original (AD) and no longer than 90 days from the original (AD) at the cost of $100.

  • Just Careers Training (trading as Licenses4 Work) reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances. Should this occur, any fees paid will be refunded in full, or you may reschedule with no additional fees. In such cases, Just Careers Training's liability will be limited to the amount of fee

  • Certificates and Statements of Attainment or attendance will not be issued until all fees owing are paid.

 

What Do I Need to Bring?

  • Your pre course information and your answers to some of the simple questions set
  • Wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt
  • Closed Shoes (no thongs) – preferable hard caps
  • A pen
